Here's an intermediary update - the Xiaomi Mi 6X, which just hit TENAA. Note that this will likely be available outside China as the Mi A2, a sequel to Xiaomi's Android One phone. It radically changes the screen from 5.15" 16:9 to 5.99" 18:9. It's still an IPS panel, but the resolution is now 1,080 x 2,160px.
